Meet The Methow Trails Team

Many would say that our most valuable staff are our groomers, who all take so much pride in our ski- trail product.

James DeSalvo

Executive Director

James directs all of Methow Trails' operations and works closely with all staff and board members to deliver the highest quality trail system possible. He and his team work collaboratively with thousands of community members and visitors each year to ensure the trail system will be here forever. James moved to the valley in 1999 and is centered by his wife Tory and three boys, Parker, Sawyer, and Malloch. He brings a diverse professional background, most recently as the Regional Director for Outward Bound, managing operations in AK, WA, OR, CA, and Mexico. He has also been our Trail Manager, Groomer, a state park ranger, ski patroller, EMT, and wildland firefighter.

Brandon Richison

Mechanic and Groomer

Brandon is the brains and brawn who keeps all 5 PistenBully snowcats, snowmobiles, ATVs and other grooming equipment in tip-top shape so that we can all spend more time on the trails and less time waiting on equipment repairs. When he isn't in the shop or on the trails, Brandon can be found volunteering with the local fire department, working on his farm, or playing with his daughter. He is known for always sneaking extra treats to the office dogs!

Adrienne Schaefer

Program Manager/Event Director

Adrienne manages Methow Trails events, program development and the Methow Trails service program, and assists with landowner relations, grants, public outreach and trail-pass sales. Her educational background is in Outdoor Recreation and Psychology. She has worked as Forest Service trail crew, climbing ranger, ski patroller, and is a guide book author. Adrienne moved to the Methow in 2012, where she and her husband John have raised her two kids (Tye and Reed) on the trails.

Jon Albright

Trails Manager

Jon brings a high level of skill to our organization that is as diverse as our trail system. Jon's educational background is in resource management and experiential education. He has worked as a contractor, ski area professional, educator, carpenter and logistics manager. When he isn't working on the trails, Jon loves skiing and whitewater boating with his family all over the Northwest.

Jay Ellis

Trails Technician

Jay is a Methow Valley native and comes to us with 15 years of experience working with the local Forest Service fire crew. His skill and outdoor experience is a wonderful asset to our organization. Jay brings a wealth of experience working and recreating on our local trails as well as a deep appreciation for the many special people and places of the Methow Valley. Jay loves camping and exploring the wilderness with his family when he isn't working on the trails!

Erika Kercher Halm

Outreach and Access Manager

Erika manages marketing and community outreach for Methow Trails, including connecting with our many land owners and land managers to refine, expand, and improve our trail system. You'll see a lot of Erika out on the trail taking your picture, asking for stories to share on social media, and cajoling her kids to go just a bit further. She's also usually good for some candy, should you need a little energy on the trail. Most recently, Erika worked as the Program and Safety Director for the Northwest Outward Bound School in Mazama.

Becky Studen

Administrative Manager

Becky has worn many hats during her 25 years in the Methow Valley, from a Forest Service biologist and conservation educator, to restaurant and bookkeeping business owner, yoga instructor, non-profit board member and officer, and mother to two wonderful kids, Simon and Gabby. Being a jack of all trades suits her well in managing the Methow Trails office and in her support of the Methow Trails staff, board members, land owners, and trail users. Becky loves spending time out on the trails hiking, skiing and riding her fat bike with her partner Michael.
